Artist's Comments
Custom Catbus plush sewn from a hand-made pattern. Original character design copyrighted Studio Ghibli and Hayao Miyazaki. Catbus is from "My Neighbor, Totoro".
About 85 hours of work went into this, from pattern development to final embroidery. Entriely hand sewn and hand embroidered, no machine use. About 17 inches long from head to tip of tail, and 7.5 inches tall when lying on tummy. Includes destination sign, and all four mousey headlights! This is, by far, the most difficult and time consuming plush I've done. While the end result is great, I've learned so much during the span of my working on this, that I know I could do better. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. |
